If you are anything like me then you love candles. I can remember from a very young age getting new candles for every season & holiday. Sometimes I would go through candles in just a few days because I loved the scent.
To this day I still have candles all over my house, some for decoration & some for using. My new obsession is wood wick candles if you haven’t checked them out I highly recommend it. They crackle like a fire and have a longer burning life.
Anyway, after using candles for so long, I started to wonder what I could do with all those jars. I normally would throw them away, but some candle jars are cute. And that’s when I started to reuse them.
First I will teach you how to clean out your candle jar, then I will give you 10 ways to use that candle jar!!
Step One: Get your old candle jar(s), if it has a lid remove it.
Step Two: Remove any labels as best as you can. If you have a stubborn label soak it in water for about 5-10 minutes.
Step Three: Fill a pot or pan with water, and place the candle jar in the middle. Like shown below. You don’t want your candle jar to float, if it does then you need to remove some water.
Step Four: Heat the water till boiling. You will immediately see your candle wax starting to melt. Turn off the heat once you see the wax melting. If there is wax built up on the sides try to scrape it off carefully.
Then, use a spoon or fork, to carefully lift up the wax, you want to do this before it all melts. As shown in the picture below.
Step Five: With an oven mitt grab your jar and dump out the wax into the trash. You may need to scrape a little bit off with your spoon or fork.
Step Six: Wash your jar, you will need a rough sponge or steel wool to get the last pieces of wax and label glue off completely. I like to wash mine in the dishwasher before using them.
Step Seven: Find a way to use your jar!
Here are Ten ways to use your new candle jar:
- Grow a plant.
- Place sand and a decorative candle inside your jar.
- Use it to hold pencils, crayons, markers, paintbrushes, etc!
- Use it to hold cotton balls or Q-tips.
- Turn it into a change jar!
- Use it to store homemade dishwasher tabs! Check out my recipe here!!
- Use it to store nail polish.
- Cupcake liner storage.
- Have your kids decorate it & gift it.
- Flower jar.
Or you could even make your own candle in your jar!
Enjoy & Have fun!
